Fundamentals

What is Tranquil Space teacher training?
Yoga teacher training is an intensive learning program to deepen your understanding of yoga and the fundamentals of teaching. The training involves a mixture of practice, lecture, teaching, assisting, reading, “omwork”, and self-study. It is a great way to delve into your own practice, or a great place to start the journey towards teaching.

What are the different levels of Tranquil Space teacher training?
We offer three levels of teacher training at Tranquil Space. Our Level 1 is a 33-hour intensive which prepares you with a basic foundation of how to teach a balanced class for beginners and is a great way to test the waters to see if teaching yoga is something you would like to pursue. It is also a great way to deepen your understanding of the asana practice, how to structure a class and is a pre-requisite for our Level 2. Our Level 2 training is the final step to obtaining a 200-hour certification, it challenges you to go deeper into your own practice and refines your ability to teach yoga with a start in understanding yogic philosophy. The 500-hour or Advanced Teacher Training program is designed for experienced teachers who already have their 200-hour certification, want to sharpen their teaching and are looking to investigate the advanced subtleties of the practice. We also offer a pre-natal, post-natal and tot & tyke teacher trainings.

Can I just drop in for a weekend?
We welcome interested students to drop-in for weekends during our 500-hour trainings. Students may attend certain topic discussions of choice with master teachers of yoga. Check on-line or write info@tranquilspace.com for pricing. Level 1 and Level 2 are not open for drop-ins.

How rigorous is the training? I don’t think I can practice yoga for 7 hours.
Don’t fear. The training utilizes a mix of learning methods including practice, lecture, discussion, group activities, and assisting circles. Be prepared to move with comfortable clothes, mat, beverages, snacks, and learning materials. Students should be able to maintain a level 2 practice, including jump-back surya namaskar, inversions, and arm-balances.

100% participation is required for all weekends. Hours missed may be made up during the following training. Exceptions may be made for illnesses or extenuation life circumstances. Prior approval must be granted by the teacher training director. Email kevin@tranquilspace.com for more information.
