"We need to remember that we are all created creative and can invent new scenarios as frequently as they are needed."

In this new season of growth and unfolding, nature serves as a reminder for us to also blossom as we emerge from a season of dormancy. Spring is a perfect time to evaluate the circumstances of our lives to reflect on where we are, where we'd like to go, and begin taking baby steps to get there.
Continued personal and creative growth is a must for the mindful modern girl. Place value in challenging yourself to work outside the comfort zone and live life with a playful spirit. Remind yourself that a painter is not the only definition of an artist, and seek creative outlets in all you do. Each day offers a fresh canvas upon where to paint your future. When you find yourself complaining about a stagnant situation, entrust your journal, alone time, and yoga mat to bring clarity to your next steps. By working to bring growth into your daily life through reading something out of the ordinary, trying a new scent, exploring an asana variation, or cooking with a new herb, you are able to coddle your artistic nature and continue that creative streak. If you're doing your inner work, what may appear to be stagnation is simply a seed germinating below the surface, and a beautiful flower will bloom after the proper amount of nurturing and preparation.
My wish is for you to indulge in at least one small, creative, self-nurturing act this week, ideally each day: a bubble bath, a peek at the Cherry Blossoms, a walk through Rock Creek Park, freshly cut daffodils for your desk, a home yoga practice, or reflection through the "Omplay" listed below. Allow this creativity to carry into your interactions with others and you will see that you are more of an artist than you know! You are the creator of your life canvas.
OMplay:
- Make a list of 25 things you must do before you die. Jump out of a plane, snowboard, take a cruise, lead a workshop.
- Establish a way to bring creativity into every day. Take a new route to work, try a new recipe, rearrange your surroundings.
- Spend time daily reflecting on your life through journal writing, movement, or meditation.
- Express your creative and artist self each day through your personal style and dress, what you read and listen to, how you talk and carry yourself. Find an authentic and savvy approach to life that expresses your individuality.
Thank you sharing your beautiful, creative spirits and practices with us at Tranquil Space. We honor your support, growth and continued evolution.

Over a year ago I was seeking to expand my practice. I was visiting various yoga studios and enjoying various types of yoga. I paid particular attention to the instructors, and one, Laura, really inspired me. I spoke with her about her yoga experience. She explained that she had studied at Tranquil Space. I had heard of it but had never visited. Based on her enthusiastic description of the studio, I visited and was totally impressed. The rest is history. I enterd Level 1 teacher training, and am now in Level 2. I have met many wonderful people who have not only become yoga friends, but personal friends. Tranquil Space has become my new Yoga Home! |

Yoga has always been a spiritual practice for me. When I began in 1995 the goal was to heal my soul of wounds suffered in a violent relationship. A year later I moved to a small town for graduate school with no studio and only the occasional class offered at the rec center. As a result my asana practice suffered, even though my meditation practice grew. When Tranquil Space found me, all that changed. I remember my first class very well. I felt weak, inflexible and frustrated. But during savasana I was so happy I'd come. I kept coming back and today I cannot believe the strength and flexibility I've developed. Each time I take a step further in a challenging pose I am grateful for what my body can do. More importantly, I can now take the serenity I experience on the mat, to other aspects of my life. It's always a challenge, but a good one. I'm profoundly grateful to Kimberly, Lisa, Marianne and all my Tranquil Space teachers and fellow yogis. My Wednesday night shift is one of the most enjoyable times of my week and I'll be forever grateful for the opportunity to fill it. Tranquil Space is a place where my soul feels happy and alive, and the energy generated by my teachers and fellow yogis in our asana practice is something I can carry with me every day.
